8th International Conference on Salutogenesis

Welcome!

Following seven successful International Conferences on Salutogenesis, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the 8th International Conference on Salutogenesis, organized by the Society for Theory and Research on Salutogenesis (STARS), the Global Working Group on Salutogenesis, and the Universidad de Concepción (Chile). It will be held on January 13-15, 2027, in Concepción, Chile. The conference language is English and Spanish. Simultaneous translation will be provided at the main conferences and roundtables.

In a highly connected global reality, the conference seeks to be a space for integrating knowledge, practices, and cultures. Its purpose is to inspire collaboration between science, community, and traditions, promoting a vision of health based on connection, equity, and hope. As in the conference held in Lodz (2024), we are providing space for fresh perspectives. Thus, half a day of this congress will be organized by the “Salutogenic Rebels”, a group of early-career researchers who are part of the international scientific committee.

The conference’s main theme, “Connecting Cultures, Weaving Wellbeing”, communicates the relevance of interdependence and collective creation: “Connecting Cultures” implies openness, dialogue, and mutual learning; “Weaving Wellbeing” includes co-creation, networks, and health that arise from diversity in diverse settings. The conference logo reflects this vision: its colors represent diverse cultures interwoven in harmony, evoking continuity, growth, and well-being. The deep terracotta color symbolizes human roots and ancestral connection; serenity green, balance and regeneration; horizon blue, cultural openness and global connection.

We will offer a meeting space that fosters intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration to create environments that promote sustainable health and wellbeing. For the first time being held outside Europe, this congress represents a valuable opportunity to also showcase the work carried out in Latin America.

Conference Objectives

  1. Foster cutting-edge research on Salutogenesis by sharing recent advances in theoretical, empirical, and applied research.
  2. Promote intercultural collaboration and exchange of strategies, methodologies, and experiences related to Salutogenesis from diverse cultural and institutional realities globally.
  3. Promote practical application through the exchange of Salutogenesis-inspired interventions and programs in different areas, with a view to their implementation and cultural adaptation.

Submit your papers

The conference follows an interactive format that promotes participation. You will be able to actively share, exchange, and debate current trends in Salutogenesis theory, research, and implementation. Your participation will help advance the concept of Salutogenesis and enhance its contribution to health and wellbeing, sustainability, and thriving societies. Therefore, we encourage all participants to submit an abstract related to the conference themes listed in the “Call for Abstracts”.
