Center of Salutogenesis
The internationally unique Center of Salutogenesis was initiated by its current chair, Prof. Georg Bauer, and formally launched by the President of the University of Zurich (UZH) in 2017. It is financially supported by a philanthropic foundation. The center belongs to the Department of Public and Global Health of the Institute of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention at UZH. The Center of Salutogenesis has the purpose of “Putting Salutogenesis to Work”.

The Center of Salutogenesis pursues its aim of “Putting Salutogenesis to Work” by two complementary strategies:.
- The Center supports the advancement of the concept of Salutogenesis, its dissemination and its application in various fields. It does so by hosting the STARS, by chairing and supporting the Global Working Group on Salutogenesis, and by consulting public agencies on Salutogenesis–based research and practice.
- The “Division of Public and Organizational Health” of the Center of Salutogenesis applies Salutogenesis to study and improve the impact of the fast-transforming working life on employee health. Currently, this includes research on work-related sense of coherence, positive health at work, applying salutogenesis to the digital transformation of work, co-creation of healthcare, and crafting job- and off-job life. The application of Salutogenesis specifically to working life also facilitates testing and advancing this concept in general. Current research topics include:
- Advancing the Concept and Measurements of Salutogenesis
- Salutogenic Crafting of Work- and Non-Work-Life
- Co-Creation of Health in Healthcare
- Supporting Employees with Mental Health Issues
- Promoting Mental Health of Students
- Salutogenic, Human Centred AI Implementation at Work
- Coherence & Growth in Conflicts
