A tribute to Prof. Jürgen M. Pelikan
With sadness, we say goodbye to Prof. Jürgen M. Pelikan who passed away last month. He has been part of our IUHPE Global Working Group on Salutogenesis from the very beginning in 2007. He contributed his deep knowledge from the fields of sociology, health sciences, psychology, philosophy and beyond to advance the concepts of Salutogenesis, health, health literacy, and health promotion. As a sociologist, he always reminded us of the social origins of health and was devoted to contributing to social justice and health equity in our societies. With his work on health-promoting hospitals, he also had a profound practical impact. We deeply thank Jürgen for being a true colleague and friend who inspired our minds and who touched our hearts with his warm personality. We will deeply miss him. Our empathy is with his family and friends.
