Conference Announcement
& Call for Abstracts

We are happy to announce the 8th International Conference on Salutogenesis with the theme:

Connecting Cultures, Weaving Wellbeing
Concepción, Chile | January 13–15, 2027

For the first time outside Europe, the Society for Theory and Research on Salutogenesis (STARS), the Global Working Group on Salutogenesis, and the Universidad de Concepción invite researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world to come together in a unique space for transcultural and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The conference will bring together recent theoretical, empirical, and applied work in salutogenesis and create opportunities for intercultural exchange of strategies, methodologies, and experiences across diverse cultural and institutional contexts. You may find more information on the scope and goals of the conference on the STARS website.

The call for abstracts invites contributions across four broad themes both in English and Spanish:

  1. Application areas: settings you have been working in with salutogenesis;
  2. Salutogenic practices: actions and approaches that constitute salutogenic practices;
  3. Theory and research on Salutogenesis: advances that strengthen the field;
  4. Other perspectives and areas of work that you would like to share with the international community.

As in our previous conference, part of the program will be organized by early-career researchers, the Salutogenic Rebels. They will offer space for fresh perspectives and highly participatory formats, including creative and innovative ways of communicating salutogenic ideas beyond words.

Here you can find more information on submission formats and abstract guidelines.

Official registration and abstract submission will open on March 31, 2026, on a dedicated conference website which will be announced in a forthcoming newsletter.

We look forward to seeing you in Chile!
